Traditional guitar
playing instructions have made learning to play
a discouraging form of rocket science. For too
long, guitar playing instructions and Beginner
Guitar Lesson Online products have failed for too
many students. Learning guitar chords, guitar chord
fingerings, music theory - basic scales doesn't
have to be hard.
Here at guitarcomplete.com
we decided to do something different in 2007.
Make learning to play guitar fun and easy to understand
for anyone.
After playing for
over 23 years, teaching and performing professionally
for 19, I had a loyal following of students.
Giving guitar lessons
always came naturally to me. My students tend to
take lessons until they know everything I do. The
problem was, my schedule was full. I had to turn
students away and I'm not good at saying "No".
So I wanted to find a way to please everyone.
Then, I met Marc Vadeboncoeur,
a professional videographer who has filmed everything
from weddings and television programs, to independent
film productions. He also just happens to be an
excellent guitarist.
Marc is a multi-talented
guy who owns Good
Heart Media Services, a freelance video production
company and trains videographers in his Digital
Filmmaking Workshop.
By chance, in July
2006, Marc joined a band I was in. In October 06'
I had an idea. What could we do for people who
want to play guitar? Could we combine our talents
to create acoustic and electric beginner technique
videos like nothing ever filmed before?
During set up before
a performance I asked Marc, "What if we do
a video guitar lesson series where all shots are
filmed from three angles. One facing me, the other
two directly on my hands, from the students point
of view, the way they see the guitar?"
His eyes lit up and
he said "Wow! That's never been done. There'd
be nothing a student couldn't see, that's even
better that private lessons! Man, I do video and
I can't believe I never thought of that. That's
the perfect way to teach."
We both share an absolute
passion for playing guitar and music in general.
So we thought, what better combination of people,
with more unique outlooks on playing and teaching,
are there to film it? We knew we could help people
and decided to do it!
As we started brainstorming
ways to create the best video guitar playing instructions
possible to produce, we decided only guitarists
who care about helping people learn to play would
work on any aspect of the project. Even our graphic
designer is a guitar player. Not easy to find!
The next step was
to actually shoot extremely high quality video
guitar lessons.
We spared no expense,
(you don't even want to know what it cost to
shot) and we still shoot all Guitar Complete videos
in television studios with the best production
equipment available only. But we sure have a lot
of fun doing it and that comes through in the lessons!
We constantly add new
lessons each month to the membership area of this
site and strive to make each lesson easy to
understand, visually revealing in every way, and
fun.
